Stephen Harper the dangerous extremist
02/05/2007Stephen Harper, who seized power on minority of votes (that’s what happens without proportional representation), and is henceforth known as the usurper, a true prime minister of special interest groups, lashed out, fangs and claws, at the leader of the Green Party, and in extension at the majority of the Canadian Population. It’s a sad state of affairs when the Prime Minister of as great a country as Canada represents special interest groups while disregarding and denigrating the population as a whole.
CBC: “May [leader of the Green Party] has been in the headlines for comments she made on the weekend that compared the government’s approach to climate change to former British prime minister Neville Chamberlain’s appeasement of the Nazis.”
In response to May’s comment Stephen Harper lashed out at by calling her what amounts to a Holocaust admirer.
Interesting that Harper would choose to evoke the Jewish Holocaust to counter May’s comparison of his cowardice to Chamberlain’s appeasement of the Nazis by saying that she “diminished Holocaust.” Indeed he stopped short of calling her an anti-Semite.
Why wouldn’t Harper say, instead, that May’s comment has diminished the deaths of 55 million Nazi victims?
Did Harper himself diminish the 55 Million people who died at the hands of the Nazis?
Of course he did.
Why would he do that?
As someone once said: Nothing in politics is accidental, everything is carefully scripted.
Harper and Neocons coming to power was as big a shock to Canadians as it was to the Neocons themselves. It happened during internal squabbles within the ruling Liberal Party. Canadians were distracted and whoop-dump Neocons slipped in by a narrow margin.
Not believing their luck, facing an election that guarantees their demise, Neocons made what they thought was a brilliant move that might just help them stay in power (just as it works south of the border): They allowed the formation of a pro-Israeli Lobby.
Knesset member speaks about Israel lobbies: “We hope that one day every parliament and government around the world will form a sister caucus to the Knesset’s Christian Allies Caucus which will mobilize support for Israel around the world and promote Judeo-Christian values.”
One might only hope that Israel Lobbies exist to remind the World of the atrocities committed by Nazis against the Jewish people. To remind of the atrocities lest they be committed again, although Dr Norman Finkelstein says otherwise: Israel has misused the Nazi holocaust, exploited the Nazi holocaust
Some people, and the Canadian Prime Minister among them (while trying to hold on to power in their last days in office) will grab on to the universal argument of convenience: The Holocaust and Anti-Semitism.
Harper proved what a cowardly pawn he is when he did not hesitate, while hiding behind the Holocaust (!), to kick a woman in the groin.
Why wouldn’t Harper reply to May about his party’s pitiful record in office instead of soaping people’s eyes with the Holocaust?
Harper’s remark constitutes an extremely dangerous precedent in Canadian politics. Harper (armed by a letter from Jewish Canadian Congress) vilified Elizabeth May for referencing Nazis at the same time as a Jewish group urged firing a CNN anchor Lou Dobbs for using Nazi analogies.
According to Harper one can only talk about Nazis in reference to Nazi oppression of the Jewish people. Yep, forget the planned Nazi extermination of the Polish people (over 6 million civilians, some 22% of the population).
What Harper did constitutes censorship and persecution. Oh my! Do I even dare say it?: Stephen Harper attempted to censor and persecute his opponent. Could it be that the Prime Minister of Canada resulted to Nazi tactics?
Whatever you want to call it, the fact is that Stephen Harper omitted to represent all Nazi victims.
Being a descendant of an non-Jewish Auschwitz survivor I am personally offended.
On Jan 25, 1940 Hermann Göring put into effect the “Secret Circular”. According to Hans Frank (Nazi governor of GG – Generalgouvernement – Nazi occupied Poland) it was a handbook for: “making certain that not one polish man, woman or child was left alive to soil the territories now and forever a part of the Third Reich.”
Stephen Harper,
Did you know that not only Jews were imprisoned and died in Nazi concentration camps?
Did you know that some 18 million people were imprisoned in Nazi concentration camps?
Did you know that 11 million of them died in concentration camps?
Did you know that of those 11 million some 3.5 million were Poles?
Did you know that another 2.5 million Poles were executed simply for being Poles?
Stephen Harper, by excluding from your comment 6 Million Poles exterminated by the Nazis were you trying to say that Nazi atrocities are condemnable only where they are referenced to one group / race of people? Were you trying to say that one race / group of people stands above all other?
Stephen Harper, I think that is exactly what you meant to say.
